Arsenal scouts impressed with young Right back at the World Cup

The All Whites are hot property after their World Cup run, with rumours Arsenal are chasing goalscorer Winston Reid.

Reid, 20, was the New Zealand find of the tournament, and sources in South Africa said he had attracted the interest of scouts working for Arsenal.

Reid scored with a header against Slovakia in the All Whites’ tournament opener, and proved an agile and athletic right back working alongside the vastly experienced New Zealand captain Ryan Nelsen.

Reid, who plays for FC Midtjylland in the Danish Superliga, is reported to be on the list of several clubs in Italy’s Serie A and the English Premier League, with his age and his transfer price attractions.

He is listed as having a market value of 1.125 million pounds (NZ$2.5m).

Well it does appear a very like Wenger signing; 20 years of age, impressed his scouts and very very cheap at £1.25 million. We do need to sign a right back for the future as Sagna will get on and as right now there is no up and coming replacement as Francis Coquelin (who has just been loaned to Lorrient) appears to be a more defensive midfielder or centre back. If Wenger does buy he will not buy on his games in the tournament but in my opinion will watch him over this coming season and see what happens next perhaps prompting a move in the future if Reid continues to impress.
